Human Trafficking and Missing Persons

AM General Session

State Representative Teresa Fedor will discuss legislative changes to address Human Trafficking in Ohio. She will also discuss the successes and pitfalls associated with HB 130, End Demand Act.

Detectives John Morgan and Dave Jacobs will discuss trends and patterns of both missing persons and human trafficking specific to Cuyahoga County. Morgan and Jacobs will look at recent case examples and have a brief discussion surrounding successful interviewing techniques for offenders.

Law Enforcement Track

Learn about the National Missing and Unidentified Person System, also known as NamUs. Dr. Craig will focus on the overall issues related to missing persons as well as unidentified remains in Cuyahoga County and the United States. She will address some of the most common problems and pitfalls associated with attempts to match deceased persons with long-term missing persons, and will present a number of case studies. Success in this so-called Silent Mass Disaster hinges on all stakeholders working together to utilize modern technology, best practices, and human ingenuity to find answers.

Treatment Track

Learn about the Project Red Cord Treatment model for victims and survivors of human trafficking including innovative programs, services & partnerships, the challenges and successes, and the importance of outreach. The session will wrap up with a interview with a human trafficking survivor. *CEUs will be requested
